Ongoing Mission and Service Projects:

  • Any contribution to support those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
  • Any contribution to support anti-racism pro-reconciliation efforts.

Our Mission First Goal:

  • to be a church that acts on God’s overwhelming call to respond with compassion to the vulnerable
  • to educate ourselves and others about our life with undocumented people, refugees, and immigrants and to provide assistance as much as possible
  • to address issues of health care, disabilities, and special needs children
  • to work for human rights for all people, including Muslims, Jews, other minority religious groups, women, LGBTQ+, and more
  • to remain committed to the poor, the hungry, the homeless, people with mental health issues, the uneducated, the powerless, and the afraid

  • Our Zoom Socials will continue as desired every Wednesday at 6:00.
  • September 5 host:  Virtual CRMR Regional Assembly.  Sandra is our voting delegate.
  • Sarah is sending out a survey to see how everyone is feeling about meeting in person once again.
  • September 12:  Meeting at Phil and Debbie’s house and going hybrid.

  • Debbie concluded our discussion of “Who Is My Neighbor?” by asking how we will make a difference.  Thoughts included:
    • Our words matter, but what really matters is our behavior, how we behave with others.
    • Each of us should do what we can do individually, not just what we can do as a church.
    • We should ignore whether it seems impossible or not; if it’s right, we should do it.
    • We should prioritize – take off small bites so it doesn’t seem so enormous.
    • We should engage with others and ask what they need rather than presume we know.
    • We could support the Afghani refugees as they come to Denver.
    • We could check out the Movement for Black Lives to see how we might support it.

Joys and Concerns:

  • Max has good days and bad, ups and downs.  There will be a Zoom memorial service for Gail within the month.  Max will provide the details when they are decided.
  • Cheryl’s parents’ residence is back open again after everyone tested negative for COVID.
  • Cheryl’s dad fell again Saturday afternoon but wasn’t hurt badly.
  • Cheryl’s cousin’s two-year-old great granddaughter is in the pediatric ICU with COVID.  She’s doing a little better.  Monday update – she’s doing much better!
  • Prayers for the people of Afghanistan.
